Arcadian Afterthoughts: Selected Poems & Prose
Published in Paperback by Writers Club Press (February, 2002)
Author: Ian Bryan
Average review score:

A surprise ride!
Before I read this book, I had the advantage of having heard the author read at a book signing in Memphis Tennesee. This book is the kind of book I wish more poets would write. It is more than just a rollercoaster of intense thought and feeling, it is full of statements, statements that need to be heard. I found myself, over and over, nodding my head as I read, captivated by his ability to correlate emotional chaos into peace and understanding. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because there were a handful of poems that I just didnt like. Over all, however, great piece of poetry.

The Battle Book: Crucial Conflicts in History from 1469 Bc to the Present

Author: Bryan Perrett
Average review score:

The quick and dirty details on almost any battle of history!
If your looking for quick details on almost any battle of history, then this is the book for you. The Date, location, war or campaign, opposing sides, number of troops engaged, and casualties of each conflict is given. On a good portion of the battles the author does give a short one or two paragraph summary of the battle. I found the book to be an excellent source for finding out information on specific battles of history.

Beyond the Model T: The Other Ventures of Henry Ford

The Journey Home:A Kryon Parable:The Story of Michael Thomas
I have read quite a number of books on inspiration, motivation and those claiming to answer all the doubts of human mind. The thing lacking in most books is they assume a lot about the reader. The degree of doubt is high in such books. Questions like, Why I am not getting the passion? why that excercise is not working?, Is something wrong with me? keep arising all the time. And in the end you end up in a deeper mess than you were before. It does'nt work for most of us I feel. The good part about Micheal Thomas is that his story starts bang into the kind of mess most of us are, bored with life, living but with no excitement, always realizing the futility of everything. The satisfaction that I used to get in little things before is not there even for bigger things. That is exactly Michael Thomas is feeling when the book starts. And as he transforms as and when he gets his answers and as a result I too transform. Most of the time I wish I was Micheal Thomas so remarkable is the identification with him. The book is not a how-to guide to all your troubles, a panacea, but more of self analysis. If you are filled with questions nobody is able to answer grab this book and read it in peace and silence, you may be amazed with the end result.

The Body of a Young Man
Published in Paperback by Univ of Nebraska Pr (March, 1997)
Authors: Mildred Walker and Sharon Bryan
Average review score:

A thoughtful portrait of the failings of friendship
Another great novel by Walker, complete with solid characters and clear descriptions of a place. In its exploration of a long time friendship between two couples, it asks when are we most ourselves and do we change or mearly become more of who we are and can we ever expect others to understand us. If you've ever wondered why you can't quite connect with old friends, read this.

Bon Jovi: Runaway

The true legend of Bon Jovi
I love this book. There's only thing I don't like the photos are only black and white.A few things are a bit hard to understand, but as a big fan of Bon Jovi I loved to read this romantic story of a young boy called John Bongiovi who wants to be a rock singer. I like this book because you a view about that what happened behind the stage. You also get a few of Jon thoughts and feelings.

Bruce Springsteen's Greatest Hits
Published in Paperback by Warner Brothers Publications (March, 1997)
Authors: Bruce Springsteen, Colgan Bryan, and Jeannette DeLisa
Average review score:

Piano Men
Four stars for there is no perfect book, I think that this a must for Springsteen fans who play the Piano. It also has lyrics which is good if you want to impress friends by playing and singing at the Piano, 'Cause nobody listens to the Piano nowadays. But Bruce is a Rock Legend who makes the Piano Rock! Get it, it's cheaper and {says I} more complete. It's great when you play alone and maybe better when you play with your band. Great for beginners {me} Features my favourite Bruce Springsteen song Thunder Road, The Oscar Winning Streets of Philadelphia, Glory Days, Badlands and more. Have fun, the Piano never dies!

Bryan and Darrow at Dayton
Published in Textbook Binding by Russell&Russell Pub (January, 1967)
Author: Leslie Henri, Ed. Allen
Average review score:

Contemporary Edited Compilation of the Scopes Monkey Trial
Leslie H. Allen's edited compilation of "Bryan and Darrow at Dayton," subtitled "The Record and Documents of the 'Bible-Evolution' Trial," was characterized as a "contemporary history and a ready reference record for a future in which those issues will loom ever larger until in men's minds they have been squared with the truth." In his forward, dated July 27, 1925, Allen wrote that although he had strong convictions towards one side he hoped his readers would not be able to judge if he was a Fundamentalist or a Modernist. However, in characterizing the conflict in terms of a religious schism rather than as religion versus science, Allen gave his sympathies away. Allen included public statements and incidents surrounding the trial and Bryan's undelivered speech, as well as two-page biographies of William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow, passages from Genesis, and three pages from Hunter's "Civic Biology" (the state required textbook at that time). While it is fairly obvious Allen sided with the Scopes defense, this does not detract from his attempt to provide a balanced treatment of the trial. Allen refrains from including editorial comments, letting the chronlogy of events dictate the order statements outisde the courtroom are included. Only when Allen writes in his own voice does he betray his allegiances. Of course, his title reflects that in 1925 the Scopes "Monkey" Trial was seen more as a clash of personalities than the resolution of major issues. I did my dissertation on the Scopes Trial and while Allen's book is not the complete stenographic record of the trial published elsewhere, it was certainly a laudable attempt in its day to lay out the trial for those interested in evaluating the rhetoric of the two main figures, if not the legal arguments made by others that determined the actual case.
